Bi-State passenger claims driver took off before he was seated

7/8/2008 2:16 PM

Bi-State bus passenger Timothy A. Rowe is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages for injuries he sustained after falling in a bus nearly two years ago.

According to a complaint filed July 3 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Bi-State negligently entrusted the driving to co-defendant John Doe who "did not have the proper attitude, qualifications, physical condition or requisite knowledge to be a responsible bus driver."

Rowe claims that after boarding a bus in Edgemont at approximately 8:30 a.m. on July 11, 2006, and before he was seated and secured for travel, the driver pulled off causing him to fall and hit his head and other body parts.

He also claims the driver allowed too many passengers on the bus and failed to ensure the safe and orderly entrance, seating and exit of passengers from the bus.

Rowe claims pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses and lost wages.
